Wild West Freestyle Ski Club
FASTEST GROWING
FREESTYLE SKI CLUB IN CANADA
Man can these kids ski and do they ever have fun!!! Just try to
keep up for a run or two with this bunch and you'll quickly know
why some of the hottest freestyle skiers in Alberta hail from Castle
Mt. Resort in southern Alberta. "The Castle" is home to
Wild West Freestyle Ski Club.
Started in 1996
by a small enthusiastic gang of freestylers, the club has now grown
to a staff of four NCCP/CFSA certified coaches and 30 or so dedicated
athletes. Head Coach Adrian Taggart encourages skiers to start dryland
training early in September. By the time the snow flys in December,
Wild West athletes are ready to rip up the bumps and huck huge air.
Having fun while
developing competitive skills and good sportsmanship is the number
one goal of Wild West. In 2003 seven Wild West athletes qualified
for Jr. Nationals in Quebec. Overall the club won the 2003 Alberta
Freestyle Ski Associations Club Grand Prix award. Wild West athletes
compete in both moguls and new school events (1/2 pipe and big air).
Castle Mt. Resort
and Wild West Freestyle offer a fully sanctioned moguls run and
air site, and the vertical and terrain to keep avid freestylers
smiling all the way to the next run.
